SOUNDER SLEEP SYSTEM™ TRAINING

Self-healing for insomnia and the stresses of life

The Sounder Sleep System is based on the discovery that certain small, slow, repeated physical movements can shift us from the active, waking state to a state of profound physical and mental repose. When we reach that tranquil state, if we need sleep, we will fall asleep.

The core principle of the Sounder Sleep System is that we can use small, slow, gentle bodily movements to initiate and amplify the nervous system’s inhibitory process, at will. The result is natural, restful sleep whenever we need it.

ABOUT THE SOUNDER SLEEP SYSTEM:

It is well known that fast, vigorous, physical movements like we do in aerobics or competitive sports activate the sympathetic nervous system, producing a “stress response” marked by heightened vigilance. Your blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tone, and other metabolic factors are elevated, and brain activity is increased. In other words, powerful movements wake you up.

“Since I took the Sounder Sleep System workshop I am truly sleeping better than in many years. I get up feeling well rested and refreshed!”– J. R., cancer survivor

Our great discovery is that the reverse is also true. At the opposite end of the movement spectrum, we find that tiny, slow, bodily movements directly activate the parasympathetic nervous system, triggering the body’s inborn mechanisms for rest, recuperation, and healing. Your blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tone, and other metabolic factors decline, brain activity slows, and vigilance is reduced. Your body relaxes and your mind is clear and calm.

And as it turns out, these physiological and psychological responses to movement are the very same ones that occur at the onset of natural sleep. In other words, tiny, barely perceptible movements create all the physical and mental conditions necessary for natural, restful sleep. And the result is the exactly same: you feel deliciously drowsy, and little by little you drift into a blissful, restorative slumber.

In this workshop you will be taught and led though these 'mini movements’ as you fall in and out of sleep, learning how to fall asleep and fall back into asleep after you wake up in the night. You will gain very simple techniques that you practice very briefly through your day to create the right situation for your system to take you to sleep naturally with out any gadgets or medications. When you leave, you will have handouts and an easy plan to continue the work on your own. Paris will allow you to record the workshop if you wish as well.

Testimonials

"I have to thank you because my sleep is so much better. I sleep for hours on end and have less time to read at night because I can't sleep, and the work continues inside me. The experience has been very positive and helpful. Thanks!"

            —Jane Cooper

"My personal favorite is the way the thought process becomes very quiet by focusing attention on the body and its sensations. This in itself evokes a lot of relaxation. And the mini moves are the icing on the cake. They are very enjoyable, and, Yes! - somehow it reminds me of being held by my mother or father while I was a baby."

          —Wade Warren

“The Sounder Sleep System Teacher Training truly changed my life. I had a new way to regulate my central nervous system – and therefore my sleep – and a way to teach others this skill. I have learned that having a good night's sleep is a practice - something that can easily be incorporated into your daily routine both day and night with a little intention and focus. The teacher creates a warm place for the practitioner when teaching. Community. The training is experiential, in-depth and educational! ”

             —Brooklyn Simmons

“Attending Ms. Paris’s sleep workshop gave me the confidence to see that sleep would appear at an unexpected moment, a moment I thought would never come again.”

           —Sabrina Castillo-Gallus

"Attending Paris Kern's Sounder Sleep System class was a gift to calming my body. After the class, I slept deeply and woke up calmer and more relaxed. In the weeks after taking the sleep class, I share small exercises with friends and clients every day. This sharing allows me to improve my Sounder sleep practice and deepen my contextual learning. Personally, we find peace with each other. , I found myself unapologetically exploring the parts of myself that wanted (and needed) a break.

This is a beautiful gift from within me: coming to terms with my resting self. At Mind-Body Education and Therapy, we know the importance of cultivating natural presence and connection to bring in the restorative energy we need every day. "

        —Alfo Humano

"Paris' teaching is very clear, with practical tips and methods to help us become healthier sleepers. The workshop materials are easy to use and well organized. We can do it at our own pace, anytime, anywhere , to calm our nervous system. I highly recommend everyone to attend this workshop! ”

                —Simon

“Teacher Paris is a very experienced Sounder Sleep System (SSS) instructor. Not only does she lead the course with a calm and hypnotic voice, but she is also very sharp and clear. In the teaching class, when asked what is the main difference between guiding students to do SSS's mini movements and Feldenkrais's movements, Teacher Paris pointed out succinctly: Feldenkrais focuses on guiding awareness, while SSS focuses on guiding awareness. Inducing sleep.

Sounder Sleep System's courses are just like the teacher's style, concise and clear, but very effective. If you want to quickly understand sleep and learn a set of convenient and practical sleep adjustment methods, SSS is an ideal choice.”

—Jia Ning (China’s second Feldenkrais teacher student, internationally certified Feldenkrais teacher)

“I haven’t had complete sleep since giving birth, and I woke up early in the morning and had a hard time falling back to sleep. This situation has become more and more serious after suffering from the new coronavirus. My sleep status seriously affects my daily life and emotional state. Meeting Paris and participating in SSS was a very important turning point for me. After systematic study and practice, the quality of sleep has been significantly improved, it is easier to fall asleep, and there is no need to worry about being kicked awake by the baby in the middle of the night.

Paris said that good actions can be reversed. And sleep is also an action, and we can freely reverse between sleep and wakefulness. It is recommended that you take the Sounder sleep system course to learn this reversal ability.

The framework constructed by Teacher Paris is particularly good, with sufficient information in all aspects, rich course materials, and clear internal logic, which is very suitable for Chinese students to learn.”

—Chen Lu (China’s third Feldenkrais teacher trainee)
