Mobilizing Your Posture For Uprightness
An 8 week feldenkrais series with eve boltax

We take for granted that humans are the only primates that stand and walk upright, for the most part, routinely. When compared to our primate relatives, evolutionary biologists delineate that the essential adaptation that allows for this uprightness is the curvature in our lower spine. Standing on two legs - bipedalism - allowed for great evolutionary advantages such as carrying food and conserving energy. But being bipedal also comes with the challenge of instability in every day movements such as sitting, standing, bending over, and walking.
Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais taught that good posture is the ability to move with freedom and ease in any direction, without hesitation or preparation, in an ever-changing environment. This series will feature eight weeks of foundational lessons to improve both your every day movements and specialized skills. Through novel movements interspersed with rests, these lessons will upgrade how you synergistically distribute effort throughout your whole self. Without willpower, strain, or correction, this series promotes a harmonious balance among your entire musculature and a self-discovery of that which is to your biological advantage.

Awareness Through Movement® lessons are verbally guided movement sequences intended to increase one’s kinesthetic sensitivity and awareness. Each class is different and the emphasis is on making slow, easy movements with attention in a range that is comfortable for you. Lessons are organized around a theme of a functional or developmental movement (such as breathing, reaching, or crawling). The exploration is done effortlessly and with ease, providing a positive and gratifying learning process. Afterwards, people often report feeling better: taller, lighter, grounded, clearer, more balanced, more aware, and a whole world of new sensations. All are welcome in these classes. Each class is about an hour long.

“Feldenkrais with Eve is such a wonderful invitation to rediscover how my body can move, hold itself up, and be at ease. Eve works in a gentle, collaborative, and insightful way. In turn, that helps trust my own body instead of being afraid of my injuries and chronic pain. That mind-body connection is so helpful for healing and renewal.” - Matan Ben Yishay
